Saving money on kids’ clothes is one of our favorite frugal living wins — as a debt free living family of 3, about 70%-80% of our daughter’s clothes come from the two big sales we shop each year, with yard sales filling in the rest. This is our winter sale trip.

We hit the 50% off day and spent $65 total on clothes, shoes, and coloring pencils — plus about $5 in little toys. In this video, we break down exactly what we bought, why the 50% off day is the only retail day we shop, and how yard sales cover the rest of the year for next to nothing.

Full honesty: we struck out on stocking up on princess dresses this time. But between the shoes, the everyday basics, and the sale pricing, we did okay — and we show you the math on why twice-a-year sales plus yard sales beat chasing clearance racks every month.

This is what frugal living looks like in real life — not extreme deprivation, just a system that keeps kids’ clothing costs near nothing. If you’re saving money for a big goal (we’re a debt-free family paying off over $250,000), building a wardrobe system like this is one of the easiest wins there is.
