Every girl wants to have the wedding of their dreams.\u00a0 That is why the average cost for a wedding is around 20-30k.\u00a0 That can be a down payment on a house.\u00a0 Most people cannot afford that kind of debt and should avoid it at all costs.\u00a0 <\/span>It is becoming more and more common for the couple to pay for their wedding themselves.\u00a0 <\/span>Here are a few of the steps we took to avoid going into debt for my dream wedding.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

• Do the work yourself (at least some of it) \u2013 this is probably what saved us the most money for our wedding.\u00a0 I did everything for our wedding.\u00a0 We did not have a caterer, decorator, or coordinator.\u00a0 By using lists and plans, everything was completed and the wedding went off without a hitch.\u00a0 Now, it was a lot of work, but I don\u2019t regret any of it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
• Pick a day in the off season \u2013 this matters more than one would think.\u00a0 Call some venues with multiple dates in mind, maybe one in September and then one in March.\u00a0 See if there is a difference.\u00a0 <\/span>With some of the venues we called, there was over a thousand dollar difference between the dates.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
• Don\u2019t get stuck on a specific color (shade\/<\/span>tone<\/span>) \u2013 be open to having different shades of the same color(s).\u00a0\u00a0 If you only use one shade of one color, it will be more time consuming and might cost more to have that specific shade and color.\u00a0 Think of it as a garden.\u00a0 There are more options and it will be just as beautiful.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  • Find a venue with everything you need \u2013 look for a venue that has the tables, chairs, sound system, linens, kitchen, or anything else you might need.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t need to have everything, but try to find one that meets your needs and helps to ease the cost.\u00a0 Renting chairs, tables, tents, and everything else is more than expensive, it is also exhausting to coordinate.\u00a0 We chose a venue that provided the chairs, tables, sound system and a beautiful setting.\u00a0 Plus, they set up the chairs and tables for the wedding\/food\/reception and broke them down.\u00a0 This was one thing that I was able to check off my list of things to worry about.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Search and shop \u2013 search EVERYWHERE for anything that you might need.\u00a0 Make lists, spreadsheets of the budget for the items, and start looking.\u00a0 The internet is a beautiful thing.\u00a0 Linens for chairs can start at 1 dollar a piece.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t like it, send it back.\u00a0 Start looking in advance for everything.\u00a0 My wedding was planned 2 weeks after I was engaged.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t help myself, I am a planner.\u00a0 Finding great products at great prices is fantastic and you can always sell them after!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
