The coolest free TV apps for Nerds
The advertising and media worlds are now focusing more strongly on attracting Nerds. A few years ago, liking Batman and Superman was considered childish. I have been asked many times by my mother when do I plan on growing up. Superhero’s, the supernatural, and live action fantasy are what Nerds crave. We live in an age now where the comics we read come to life before our eyes. And if you have cut the cord, so to speak, there are 2 awesome apps that are great for nerding out.
- CW App – This is one of the newest TV apps, it is about 6 months old. It is probably our most used app. CW has cornered the market on producing fantastic, dark superhero stories, from Green Arrow to Supernatural. When they broke off from Hulu, Aaron and I started panicking because we never watch these shows in live time. This free app has been great for allowing us to watch the shows we love when we want to. Now, it is still relatively new, so it is not perfect. It can be glitchy, and they will show the same commercials over and over. You can’t stop it on one device and start it back up on another where you stopped like other apps. But for us, it is an awesome resource.
- Pluto – This is a great free TV app that has so many channels. It is not limited to nerds, not by any means. It works like cable (it is a bit more glitchy, but they are constantly improving it), with channels that play shows at certain times. Now like cable, you might find 20 things you want to watch, and you might not find anything to watch. It has a wide variety of choices for any person who wants to watch. Before the 2017 Kentucky Derby, Aaron actually watched an ongoing conversation on the pros and cons for each horse. They have anime, vintage cartoons (anyone up for some Felix the Cat or Inspector Gadget), music channels, cheesy awesome action movies, and the list goes on. Pluto is the legal free cable of the millennium.
