Saving Money at the Grocery Store
Unless you are fully self-sufficient and have a viable working homestead, you are going to spend some time at the grocery store. Food is a necessity that all people require to live. And this is used against us by corporations who jack up the prices on life’s necessities.
- Know your best prices in your area – There are items I will only buy at one store because it is the cheapest price unless I see it for a lower price somewhere else. Some people write this information down. Whatever works best to help you compare prices and knowing what you are willing to pay.
- Build up a good stock pile – After your pantry is built up, all you will have to do is keep restocking your stock pile. Aaron and I rarely have to buy day to day groceries for this reason. Never run out of your essentials.
- Use weekly store circulars – Build your stockpile by shopping for items at their lowest price. If you can find a coupon, the more the better. This is how we compensate for not being able to use coupons as often as we would like to.
- Always shop with a list – first, you will not forget anything and second, this will help keep you from buying items you don’t need. Now, this doesn’t stop you from buying things that aren’t on your list. I am guilty of this, “Oh, those cookies are on sale ….”. This is more about commitment than anything else. It takes willpower and a strong resolve. And practice.
